SOS Team Cooks Dinner & Dessert

This week the cook team at SOS did double duty by making an entree and dessert! The entree was baked cod with a provencal sauce (tomatoes,oranges, olive pesto & herbs) over egg noodles. Dessert was two variations on challah bread pudding – one with apples and brown sugar and the other with fresh blueberries. Our SOS cook team volunteers really bring their best to this effort which includes a lot of creativity and clean up! Our guests appreciate finding fresh, healthy ready-to-eat meals in the market that are delicious to look at and eat.

SOS (Save Our Surplus) volunteers use our certified kitchen facilities and surplus perishable groceries (extra produce from local farms and overstock ingredients in our pantry) to create delicious and nutritious prepared meals which our guests can take home when shopping in our pantry – one of the things most requested by guests.
