Empty Bowls, Full Hearts

Those who attended the 2019 Empty Bowls event at Newbury Court in Concord this past Sunday, November 3rd may have purchased some beautiful empty bowls, but probably also left with full hearts – full of the sense of a community coming together to make a difference.

The event was an overwhelming success. Talented ceramics artists from Newbury Court and The Umbrella Arts produced an amazingly creative collection of close to 400 handmade bowls. Attendees who made a donation to Open Table had the hard task of picking their favorite bowl(s) to take home. Everyone enjoyed a bountiful luncheon spread of delicious soups, breads, beverages, and desserts, with musical entertainment by Jeremy Silver.

Open Table wishes to express our heartfelt thanks to Newbury Court and the Umbrella Arts. The event was a true collaboration of spirit and talent, and was inspiring to all who participated. The funds raised will be well used in purchasing food and supplies for our guests. And the sense of community and the generosity will stay with us – as we already look forward to next year.

And thank you to our amazing events coordinator, Alannah Gustavson, who worked with the Newbury Court and Umbrella Arts team to pull off this joyous event!
