Barbara Fisher Named Chair of Open Table Board of Directors

Six New Board Members Bring Diverse Talents to Metrowest Area Charity

Concord and Maynard, MA (July 1, 2024) – Open Table, the MetroWest charity dedicated to fighting hunger and building healthy communities, today announced that Barbara Fisher has been named chair of its board of directors. Open Table also announced that it has appointed six new members — Jill Bradford, Megan Chambers, Joan Geoghegan, Tricia Haut, Margaret Melo Sullivan, and Michele Wade — to its Board of Directors.

Barbara Fisher, chair of the Open Table Board of Directors, has been vice president of the board for the past three years.  She replaces Mary Siegel who is stepping down. Barbara is a retired health care executive who spent the last several years as a senior vice president at UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester. In this role she was responsible for day-to-day operations, strategy and business development, financial planning and budgeting, and information technology for multiple areas. During her tenure she developed clinical programs serving the central Massachusetts communities as well as oversaw numerous facility improvement projects.

Prior to joining UMass, Barbara was a vice president at Cambridge Health Alliance and a senior manager in the health care consulting group at Ernst and Young. She also was on the Board of the Concord Carlisle Scholarship Fund. Barbara volunteers at Open Table distributing weekly groceries and prepared meals and assisted the management staff with the expansion of the mobile meals program. Having raised their family in Concord for 33 years, Barbara and her husband recently moved to Sudbury. She has a BA from Tufts University and an MBA from Yale School of Management.

“Barbara Fisher has both the background in public health and a track record of supporting Open Table that, combined, make her the ideal candidate to chair the Open Table Board of Directors,” said Alexandra DePalo, executive director, Open Table. “As demand for Open Table’s services continues to grow, Barbara will be instrumental in ensuring that we are able to meet this need.”

“Each of the new board members brings unique talents that will help Open Table deal with its current challenges and opportunities,” said Barbara Fisher, chair, Open Table Board of Directors. “As we look forward to a new fiscal year where fully one-third of our local residents are facing food insecurity, their input will be invaluable in guiding our strategic and tactical decisions for the year ahead.”

Jill and her husband have lived in Sudbury for over 25 years.  Jill currently volunteers at Open Table distributing weekly groceries and prepared meals.

Megan Chambers is a retired corporate attorney who spent the last 16 years of her career as the General Counsel and Executive Vice President of Boston Private Financial Holdings, Inc. She began volunteering with Open Table in pre-Covid times and can usually be found picking grocery orders or working in the parking lot on Thursday afternoons.  She also is a member of the Open Table marketing team where she puts her media relations skills to work writing about and getting coverage for Open Table events. She lives in Concord.

Tricia Haut is the associate director of business operations in the gastrointestinal and inflammation related conditions early research area at Takeda Pharmaceutical Company where she has worked since 2017. Tricia has been involved in volunteer work at various schools and other non-profit groups supporting needs related to quality of life, food insecurity, and sports. Prior to the pandemic, she worked with a group of youth who regularly provided/created centerpieces for community dinners and decorated bags for children at Open Table. Tricia is very passionate about diversity, equity, and inclusion and has been trained in and works on this topic in her professional and personal endeavors. She lives in Concord with her husband, Don, their two children and two dogs.

Margaret Melo Sullivan is the executive vice president and chief financial officer of Avidia Bank. She began her career at the bank in 1996 as an accounting assistant and previously worked for the Town of Hudson, Hudson National Bank and Arthur’s Furniture.  When not at work, Margaret can be found either volunteering or spending time with family and friends. She has worked with a variety of nonprofit organizations, both faith-based and secular, but her heart lies with the nonprofits that focus on humanitarian aid and basic needs. With a bachelor’s degree in urban studies and a graduate certificate in philanthropic studies, she hopes to help Open Table reach new heights with the effectiveness and inclusiveness of its development program.
