Run a Food Drive

Open Table relies on food drives year round from the local community in order to meet the needs of its clients that cannot be met through our partnership with the Greater Boston Food Bank, local grocers, and farms. These non-perishable items – including your donations, are accompanied by fresh produce, meat, dairy, eggs, and prepared foods to help our clients prepare healthy meals for themselves and their families. Without these valuable contributions, we would not be able to serve the 300+ families we serve each week in our community.

Hosting a food drive can be easy and fun, and it is a great project for a club, team, scout troop, school, business, or neighborhood to do together. Food Drive projects can promote team building, provide community service activities, and are a fantastic way for your organization or business to show your support for the community. Food drives both big and small are appreciated!

Host a Food Drive at Crosby's Market

Just two hours of your time makes a world of difference to those in need in our community.

Create Kids' Bags

1 in 6 children in Middlesex County suffer from food insecurity. We distribute up to 150 Kids’ Bags each week as part of our mission to address hunger in our community. Donations of Kids’ Bags are vital to supporting the youngest in-need in our local area. Your donation of any number of Kids’ Bags is appreciated.

Children of all ages love to help – it feels good. Putting together Kids’ Bags is a fun, hands-on group activity for children of all ages. It helps the kids in your club, team, scout troop, school, or life build empathy, learn about hunger in an age appropriate manner, and gives them a meaningful way to help others in their community. A donation of any number of Kids’ Bags – be it 5 or 100, is appreciated!

Other Activities

Host a Fundraiser

Kids can “take a stand” against hunger by setting up lemonade stands, bake sales, or craft sales to raise funds. Or consider a birthday fundraiser on social media. Raise funds or just raise awareness – it all makes a difference.

Create a Tradition of Giving

Year-on-year traditions are often at the root of our fondest memories and carried forward through future generations. Consider incorporating an Open Table donation activity – running a food drive or making kids bags, into your family, neighborhood, club, team, or organization’s yearly activities. Giving feels good, creating a giving tradition with family and friends feels great.

Share the Love

Take photos of your food drive or other efforts to help end hunger in our community and share them on social media. Be a friends’ inspiration to give! Be sure to tag us @opentablema! Or send us your photos and story by emailing them to communications@opentable.org.
