Visualizing the Future
Thanks the the generous support of the community, Open Table has purchased a building adjacent to our main facility in Maynard, and we are renovating it to serve as our new Annex. Due to space limitations, Open Table is currently nearing capacity to serve individuals and families. The Annex will allow us to store more food onsite and, in turn, better support our growing client base.
Inflation and rising food prices, combined with changes to government subsidies, make Open Table’s services an even more critical support for our neighbors. Yet only 30 to 40% of food-insecure households visit pantries in our region – often due to emotional and physical barriers such as lack of mobility, unreliable transportation, and a desire for privacy.
The Annex will double our food storage capability and allow us to expand food delivery to surrounding communities. We will grow our mobile pantry programs – meeting people where they are with greater privacy and addressing unmet needs in our community.
The Annex will provide:
- Ability to increase mobile access points to go deeper into the communities we serve.
- Operational efficiencies, with improved distribution flow and space for staging.
- A safer environment for staff and volunteers.
