The Umbrella ArtTalk: The Art of Empty Bowls

ArtTalk-Sept-2016The Umbrella Community Arts Center will host their third annual Empty Bowls event to benefit Open Table on November 3rd. In advance of the event, the September ArtTalk, will discuss the connection between art and community service. The public is welcome.
The ArtTalk, which will be held on Thursday September 15th at 7pm, will include 4 panelists. Two will be from The Umbrella, Ceramics coordinator Caitlyn Marsh and one of the student potters on the Empty Bowls Team. The other two panelists will be artists outside of The Umbrella.
Richard J.S. Gutman the Director & Curator at The Culinary Arts Museum at Johnston & Wales University will be a panelist. He worked with John Hartorn and Lisa Blackburn (Empty Bowls founders) on the 25th Anniversary Exhibition at the museum during NCECA 2015.
Lynn Gervens the Executive Director of Mudflat Pottery School we are hoping will also be on the panel. She has managed the Somerville Empty Bowls fundraisers in support of Food For Free.

All pre-sale ticket holders will be automatically entered in a raffle to win a bowl handmade at The Umbrella.
